Tucked away between mountains and sea in Italy's extreme northeast corner, this region is a melting pot of cultures. Close to the borders with Austria and Slovenia, influenced both by Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions, from a cultural point of view there is considerable overlap in ethnicity, traditions and cuisine. Traditional dishes echo both Venetian and Austro-Hungarian recipes.
A gastronomic tour of the region will give you the opportunity to discover excellent food such as the sweet and savoury Cjalsons from Carnia, the nut- filled sweet bread Gubana from Cividale or its Trieste version of Presnitz, pasta alla Buzara with the excellent fish from the coast, the crispy or soft version of Frico made with Montasio cheese, not to mention the world famous San Daniele ham and many other delicacies which make this region somewhere unique to discover and enjoy.
Casa Delser will be happy to talk you through the numerous restaurants and the best wineries of the region, from Collio Friulano, to the hills of San Daniele and Fagagna, from the lagoons of Caorle and Bibione to Grado.
